Summerworks Live Art Series - August 8-18th

SummerWorks Performance Festival is now accepting submissions to it's Live Art Series.

Established in 2012, the Live Art Series runs concurrently with the Festival main and offers a platform for experimental and experiential approaches to performance. Live Art seeks to create work that is experiential, work that exists solely in the space and time-frame of the performance in interaction with the performer and audience.

They are looking for artists working in, or experimenting with notions of Live Art. Submissions are encouraged from artists working in all artistic genres, with the only specification being that the work must encapsulate a form of live performance in an
untraditional space and it must consider the presence of the audience in relationship to the work. The space must be within the parameters of the Festival, which is situated on Queen Street between Spadina and Noble.

Artists are asked to submit a project proposal that is no more than 3 pages. Works that you may have presented elsewhere are welcomed, though they are especially interested in artists building a project specifically for the Festival.

SummerWorks will offer you a fee for your work. This fee will be negotiated between the Festival and the artist, and will depend upon the scope of the work, and whether the work is something for which the Festival can charge an entry fee. Submission fee is 10$

Online applications can be found on the SummerWorks website at www.summerworks.ca

Deadline to Submit: April 15th

Fogo Island Artist Residency, Newfoundland

Fogo Island Arts is a residency-based contemporary art venue for artists, filmmakers, writers, musicians, curators, designers, and thinkers from around the world.
Established in 2008, Fogo Island Arts is located off the coast of Newfoundland in Canada. With the opening of the Fogo Island Inn in 2013, Fogo Island Arts will enter a new phase of its evolution, expanding its program to include exhibitions at the Inn, publications produced in collaboration with international imprints, and partnerships with public institutions globally. These initiatives are part of a social enterprise-based business model that will support the economic viability of the Fogo Island Inn and the growth of tourism on Fogo Island.
The programs at Fogo Island Arts provide alternatives to more traditional international residencies and public art galleries in North America — in part due to the resourcefulness and creativity of Fogo Islanders, which provides a vital framework for the organization’s activities.
The residency program brings contemporary artists and researchers from around the world to live and work on Fogo Island and Change Islands. The program welcomes the participation of artists working in a wide range of disciplines, including but not limited to: visual arts, new media, design, music, dance, writing and film. For its 2013-14 residencies, Fogo Island Arts is seeking proposals from curators for projects to be presented within the context of the organization's Education program.
